Harlequin was primarily designed for the English market where the traditional upholstering technique for “Chesterfield” sofas and chairs are very recognized and used. This fact was again the inspiration to Danish design duo busk+hertzog to make a modern version of this English classic.
The quilting and use of large surfaces makes the connection to the traditional look but at the same time the light stainless steel feet and the straight lined edges makes it look almost hovering and more modern in its expression. Last but not least the slim but double armrests combines the aesthetics of the two contradictions, abundance and minimalism.
All these features combined makes the Harlequin family able to fit into both more traditional buildings as well as new and modern architecture.
